I have to say a big thank you for this video. The lightbulb is expensive enough and to have it installed is ridiculous. After watching this my son and myself changed out my bulb and we used a T 20 wrench to take the covering off above the wheel. And, not all GMC Acadia’s have the HID headlight. Make sure you know which bulb to replace. Mine is an HID.

Great video. Just remember to move the passenger seat up first, so it's out of the way removing the battery. Also, make sure to buy a vent tube adapter before swapping battery. Mine broke off and the new battery did not include the valve. Cheers!

I HAVE BEEN TINKERING WITH CARS FOR OVER 55 YEARS - THIS IS THE STUPIDEST ARRANGEMENT FOR HEAD LIGHT BULBS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. ONCE YOU DO GET THE PROTECTIVE COVER OFF YOUR WHOLE HAND WILL NOT FIT INSIDE TO GRASP THE BULB - I COULD ONLY GET TWO FINGERS ON IT TO LOOSEN IT - IF THE BULB HAS BEEN IN THERE A WHILE IT TAKES QUITE A BIT OF PRESSURE TO GET IT LOOSE - THE WIRES NEED TO BE LONGER SO THAT ONCE YOU DO GET THE DAMNED THING LOOSE YOU CAN HAVE AN EASIER TIME GETTING THE OLD BULB OUT AND THE NEW ONE IN - NOW COMES THE TRICKY PART - PUTTING THE BULB ASSEMBLY BACK IN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BULB - BY THE TIME YOU REACH THIS STAGE THE NITRILE GLOVES ARE TOAST - AFTER FIGHTING WITH SIDE 1 I DECIDED TO JUST TAKE THE DAMNED TIRE OFF AND I HAD TO ENLIST HELP HOLDING THE COWLING BACK SO THAT I COULD REACH EVERYTHING.

is it necessary to disconnect the battery? I dont see any type of work being done with hot wires or anything that would seem to actually require that but I was just curious. Also, I thought there may be a capacitor that would still hold the charge even if you disconnected the battery? I am getting ready to do this job and I appreciate this video. I was also just wondering if you disconnect the battery what all will that reset on the denali? Clocks, oil change service tracking etc?

My problem is slightly different - I have condensation inside the plastic headlight assembly. The light has always been aimed low (I bought the car used from CarMax) so I expected to find the bulb not installed correctly, especially since the condensation showed up in the past few weeks. I thought I could just open the hood and remove and re-install the bulb (like in the old days) or easily remove and re-install the whole assembly (like my GMC pickup at work). I had half the front end of the car apart and was well into my second beer before I looked at this video. Great video, thanks, but if the morons who design cars now had to work on them, they would be designed differently. I was never able to fix the condensation problem (yet) and after this mess and other stupid design flaws in this car, I'll never buy another GMC. But, thanks for the video!
